VPNclient works fine with its normal settings. Only change these if the VPN won't connect on a certain network (like hotel or work Wi-Fi) or feels slow. To find them, open the Settings tab (third button at the top) and choose Advanced.
Protocols: which one to use
UDP - OpenVPN: the app describes it as the best mix of speed and security, but it may not work on every network. Start here.
TCP - OpenVPN: more likely to work on any network, but can be slower. Try this if the VPN won't connect.
WireGuard: a fast, modern connection. Try this if the VPN connects but feels slow.
After changing the protocol, go back to the home screen and connect again.
Port
Leave Port on Auto. Only if the VPN still won't connect on a certain network, choose a different port from the list and try connecting again.
